One Family of Artists

The Goldcrest Gallery collection includes the work of three generations from one family of artists. Consequently, there is a wide variety of styles and subject matter in our archive. Their different media, scale and purpose means that we have an eclectic range of designs to choose from!

Artwork from the 1950s – 1990s

Our earliest artworks are original wallpaper patterns produced in the 1950s by a lecturer in textile design, silk screen printing and photography. They are large scale, and were hand drawn and painted in gouache on cartridge paper. Following this period, our collection includes some original textile designs created during the 1970s. These were hand produced by a textile design teacher, using gouache and fine line marker pens. Different colourways have been hand painted for some of these lovely designs. In our archive we have a further selection of fine art paintings in acrylics and gouache.

Children’s Picture Books

In addition to our greeting card collection, there are six original children’s picture books available from Goldcrest Gallery. Five of these were first written and illustrated in the 1980s. The author/illustrator also worked at that time as an Art Therapist. The books were designed, digitised and edited by the whole family team working together. There is also a selection of children’s A4 fine art prints available, including some of the original illustrations from our picture books. As well as this, the author/illustrator produced other designs for children, and some of these now form the basis of our Children’s Corner greeting card collection.

Photography

The photographic cards in our range were designed by another member of our family. An interest in macro photography and flowers led to a selection of beautiful images for our greeting cards and wrap-around charity greeting cards. These were produced much more recently than most of our artwork.

Finally, the charming designs for our Little Notes sets were created by our now-retired co-founder. We all had great fun producing this lovely range of tiny A7 notecards. Goldcrest Gallery’s diverse collection of artwork from one family of artists has resulted in a varied range of greeting cards, notecards and charity cards, together with fine art prints, canvas prints and children’s picture books.
