We are featuring one of our beautiful sets of original notecards, Lilac Set. Our lovely handmade notecards are produced by Goldcrest Gallery in sets of six. The 5″ square cards are supplied with white envelopes and individually wrapped in protective eco-cellos. There are two of each attractive design in the sets.
Lattice
‘Lattice’ is a contemporary fabric design, hand-drawn in coloured ink and painted in watercolour on cartridge paper. The artist has used two subtle shades of pink and purple, and has arranged the simple floral motifs in diagonal rows. The design also reads in vertical rows with a half drop. This has resulted in a very regular repeat pattern, and the simplicity of the floral motifs belies the complex criss-crossing and colour interchange of the overall design.
Pink Posy
‘Pink Posy’ is an original vintage textile design, first produced in the 1970s for silk screen printing. This pretty design from our family archives is hand-painted in Designers’ Gouache on cartridge paper. The floral motifs are arranged in diamond-shaped sprays, with soft edges that give a delicate effect. Rows of the flower sprays follow a full drop pattern with wide interspacing. The white background adds a fresh look to the floral motifs, which have three shades of pink and purple.
Blueberry
‘Blueberry’ is an original 1970s textile design. It has been silk-screen printed on textured pink paper. Small purple sprigs with round berries are arranged in a helix design, and there is plenty of movement in this lively pattern. The dark purple berries with the pale pink background create a strong contrast, which is bold and striking, even though the drawing is finely detailed.
These three attractive designs comprise our Lilac Set of six notecards. The matte finish of the cards closely mirrors the satin-smooth gouache paint and silk-screen printing for which they originally intended. Our notecard sets make beautiful and useful gifts, and they are an ideal size for keeping in touch with a quick letter.
